Not everyone is aware that the caging available in the typical pet store are extremely too small for Syrian hamsters. The only purchasable cage in the United States is a glass tank 20 gallon long with a metal mess lid. The cages with wire and tubes are not suitable, and we will not adopt a ham out if they will have to live in one of these cages. We used to use glass tanks for our hams, but found them very heavy! So we looked into making a "bin cage" out of a large storage bin. We found them so much nicer then glass tanks and made one for every hamster in the hamstery! They also can stack which helped a lot with space. We had been asked by others to make them so we decided to start offering bin crafting for people getting babies from us or someone looking for a nice cage for their ham. We also encourage for people to look up instructions online and see if its something they could build for themselves too. We ask $50 a bin cage and do ask for payment at time of order. We can typically make one on a weeks notice or less. We also customize the cage to the owners likes. The bin crafting also helps keep the hamstery going. We NEVER profit from breeding hams and these bin sales do help provide food, bedding, enrichment, and vet care for the hamsters at the hamstery.
If you are interested in a cage please contact us. These are a few examples of the bins we have made for happy hammy owners.
